"My pay goes down and tax goes up, I drink my tea from a broken cup"
I’m not one hundred percent sure what I’m going to do with this blog... creating it seemed like a good idea at the time.
I love all forms of the blues, although my particular favourite ‘genre’ is Chicago blues from the 50’s and 60’s and the way it used to be played by guys like Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Little Walter, Elmore James, Jimmy Reed and Hound Dog Taylor to name but a few.
That being said, my two favourite groups (at least the ones that are getting the most time in my CD player at the moment) are Nick Moss and the Flip Tops and Willie Kent and the Gents.
I play the blues as a hobby, and I'm a blues bass player.
I'm not a jazz bass player and I'm definitely not a rock bass player who doesn't know better.
And I'm pretty sure there's a difference.
As a musician I’m not particularly good, and as a bass player... I’m not a whole lot better, but I get
one hell of a kick out of playing.
My favourite bass players include Willie Kent, Dave Myers, Jerry Jemmott, Willie Dixon, Tommy Shannon, Donald "Duck" Dunn and James Jamerson.
